Overview

In September 2024, I participated in the Microsoft Global Hackathon project, DACA EDA Copilot, which is aimed at helping ABAProBar streamline work permit applications for migrants at the Brownsville, Texas border. As of September 2024, 380 migrants are being paroled into the United States through Brownsville, with 1,200 migrants being paroled across the US/MX border every day. However, immigration processing volunteers can only assist 10% of these migrants daily. This project aimed to amplify their efforts and make a significant impact.

As one of three Product Designers, I redesigned the homepage and file upload detail pages to improve the overall information architecture and clean up the UI.

Impact

We were chosen as a favorite by three judges in the “AI using Azure OpenAI” topic challenge, out of over 1,700 projects.

We also received an honorable mention for the Hack for Good with a Nonprofit Executive Challenge.
