My Design Journey

During the summer of 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Australia, where I spent my time interning as a People Operations Intern at a Melbourne, Australia based startup, Xplor. As a Psychology major, I originally thought Human Resources was the perfect career choice. However, my study abroad experience taught me this wasn’t the right choice.

In 2020, I graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Montclair State University. Thoughts about the future, a looming pandemic, and uncertainty of career choices led me to question what my next steps would be. I was always interested in technology, and wondered how I could connect my Psych degree into an actual career. After a bit of online research, I discovered the field of User Experience Design and immediately interested.

My interests eventually led me to some exciting experiences. In particular, I was a UX Design Apprentice at Microsoft (part of the LEAP program), where I researched and conceptualized ideas to improve inclusive design at Microsoft Education. I also helped to conceptualize new and exciting experiences for Spotify listeners as a Product Design Intern at Spotify.

Where I am now

Now, I’m a Product Designer at Microsoft, where I’ve been able to explore improving complicated onboarding experiences in Microsoft Word and designing the future of graphic design tools with Microsoft Designer. I also enjoy working on side projects, like web design and data visualization.

In my free time, I enjoy practicing my amateur photography skills, listening to music, dreaming about my next vacation, or adding to my Pinterest boards.
